About the Business

There has been a veterinary surgery in Pontefract since at least the end of the nineteenth century. In those days, vets dealt mainly with livestock and horses, and the premises were situated near to the old cattle market in Friarwood. In the 1960's, J.G. Prescott, who purchased Ashleigh House (our main consulting building at the Pontefract site), founded the present practice. Several years later, the stables across the car park were converted, the practice re-located and Ashleigh House was sold to a firm of architects. As the practice expanded, more space was needed and, when, in 2002, Ashleigh House came back on the market the practice was able to operate from both sites. Shortly after, we decided to concentrate our efforts purely on small animal work, saying good bye to our equine and farm patients.

In 2008 we also felt our premises on Sagar Street in Castleford had become too cramped.
